The Ilyushin Il-76 family (including the original Il-76T and the upgraded Il-76TD) represents the pinnacle of rugged, strategic heavy-lift aviation. Originally designed for military operations, these four-engine freighters are heavily utilized in civilian logistics to access some of the most remote and underdeveloped regions on earth.
Capable of carrying up to 50 metric tons of payload, the Il-76 excels in humanitarian relief, oil and gas logistics, and mining operations. Its most defining feature is its ability to land on unpaved, gravel, or ice runways thanks to its robust multi-wheel landing gear. Equipped with a rear ramp, heavy machinery can be driven directly into the aircraft, eliminating the need for specialized ground handling equipment at destination airports. The Il-76TD variant offers increased payload, better fuel efficiency, and enhanced performance for extreme weather and high-altitude airports.
